What Exactly is The Return?
Following Breadcrumbs…
Late last year, friends began forwarding me beautiful videos about the upcoming Year of the Horse. At first, I just watched them. But then, a “niggle” started in the back of my mind.
What if you did something to celebrate this? the voice asked.
Me? Why? What would that look like? Maybe it looks like sharing what you’ve learned from horses and how it applies to life.
That internal conversation led to me to create Take the Reins—our monthly online Sunday gatherings for the Year of the Horse.
Take the Reins is a chance to gather in real-time community to explore the many ways that the learning from horses can actually be learning for life. Though there are some ‘horse people’ involved, it is not about riding or even working with horses. It is about taking the learning from time spent with horses and applying it to our daily lives.
(If this sounds like it is for you, I’d love for you to join us! We meet the second Sunday of each month online via Zoom at 10am Pacific.)
But I soon realized that while some of us thrive in that hour-long sanctuary, others who really wanted this learning needed a way to stay connected that fit into the “cracks” of a busy week.
The “niggle” returned.
What if you created something for the people who can’t be available for an hour in real-time on a Sunday morning?
Enter, The Return. I created The Return get to the heart of many of the themes we were working with, but to be intentionally bite-sized and easy to digest—no real-time commitment required. The first version of it was a beautiful, deep dive—a ten-week journey—and for many, it was exactly the right pace.
But for others, again, ten weeks started to feel like too much. Too long. In a world that already feels overwhelming, I realized that even a “good” thing can start to feel like “one more thing.”
There was the niggle again.
Why don’t you create another version of The Return? Just the nuts and bolts? Shorter? Something that could be done before summer?
So, this Sunday, May 17th, we begin again. The Return.
Five weeks. Self guided. Practices to ground you, to give you a ‘Deep Seat’ when the craziness of the world gets a bit too bouncy. A way to find the stillness within in the midst of the hurry of life.
The Nuts and Bolts:
No Real-time Commitments: No specific times you have to be anywhere. Listen when you can.
Sunday Audios: One 10-minute audio to set the tone and introduce the week’s practice.
Daily Breadcrumbs: A 1-2 minute daily check-in to help you “practice the practice” in the middle of your real life.
Zero Pressure: No courses to watch, no logins to manage—just a simple path back to yourself.
Interested? I’d love to have you join us on the journey.
